MOJO304 The Best

Good Mojo Monday morning!

Today's mojo card features the Artiste Cricut cartridge.

I used the CTMH Pirouette and Artiste Kudos stamp sets combined with the Avonlea paper.

The card base is Whisper cardstock, which matches the Avonlea paper nicely.

The pirouette is stamped in Cocoa ink on a coordinating die cut shape on the Cricut.

I circle-punched a patterned circle from the Avonlea B&T Duos paper.

The sentiment, circle and banner stamp are from the Kudos set, and are also stamped in Cocoa ink on champagne and whisper cardstock.

I added some BoBunny lace and a ribbon to "fancy" it up!

The challenge today was round or square.

Enjoy & thanks for stopping by!

MOJO303 Friend

Good Mojo Monday morning!

MOJO303-Friend
Today's card is for a friend of mine, to celebrate her birthday and her graduation.

On Champagne cardstock, I stamped the chicken wire CTMH Distressed Background in Desert Sand Ink.

I layered that on top of craft card stock, then layered and added a sentiment from the My Stickease Buzz and Bumble package.

MOJO303

One of the fruits that's been lying on my work desk added a beautiful touch to the sentiment. It's the peach branch from the  Sweet Life set, which I colored with watercolor pencils.

The wooden button and the twine are from the wooden mini-medley set, and I placed them on tip of an extra fussy-cut leaf, which is on one of the pieces of zip-strip from the Buzz and Bumble papers, layered on Creme Brulee cardstock.

Thank you for looking today!

SWEET Card!

The other week, I posted my work desk picture with assorted fruits and some pretty pink Chantilly paper spread out across it. I couldn't show the card I was planning because I was going to submit it to Take Ten magazine. But before I put it in the mail I took another look at it and realized that it wasn't quite good enough. I had some stray embossing powder all over the front that I didn't catch.
I used the design challenge that was in the Summer 2013 Take Ten magazine.
The main layer is the sweetest Chantilly pink. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the CTMH Sweet Life set right on that layer.
I used the Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut the CTMH cotton candy pink border, and fussy-cut one edge of a Buttercup strip to layer underneath it. On the other edge I used a petite scallop border punch.
I had colored the fruits from the Sweet Life set several days prior and I used a round punch to frame the cherries and inked the edges with cotton candy pink. The ruby cardstock shape was also cut on my Cricut using the Artiste cartridge. A couple of coordinating ribbons - one for a border and one for a bow - finished the card.

MOJO302 - Home&Comfy

Today's Mojo Monday sketch is so clean and simple, I was able to make 2 cards this morning!

I haven't had a chance to use the February 13 Stamp of the Month I bought in April...and I thought it might be a good Get Well Card theme for someone recuperating at home. You know, staying at home is so much more comfortable than anywhere else.

I stamped the design in Cocoa ink on Champagne cardstock.

My "go to" theme is lacy and old fashioned, and the CTMH Buzz & Bumble paper assortment has 2 sheets of double-sided paper with old-time newsprint on one side that worked well for this. The packet includes Cocoa cardstock, and I made the card base using Kraft paper.

My other card is highlighted on my Cards and Crafts blog (see link on the right).

I didn't think to take a picture of the My Stickease assortment that included the flower and leaf until AFTER I used them, so there are couple of missing parts on the sheets.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

It's Been a Week...

What a week it's been. Let's recap...

Tuesday - at ER til 2 am.

Wednesday - work and Mother-in-law's surgery to put pins put in her elbow - apparently the bone shattered into more than 25 pieces.

Thursday - DH though mom had a stroke, left work to spend evening at hospital

Friday - Work & hospital & late dinner carry out- 1 am call from hospital, she fell out of the bed there

Saturday - hospital trip, lunch out, back to hospital, dinner out

Sunday -- DH slept late, I did laundry and cleaned up my stamping area. Hospital, Visit with his brother & wife, grocery, home for late dinner of fajitas. And I cheated...I bought the pre-baked chicken at the grocery for the fajitas. [no, I'm not super-wifey].

And just listened to phone messages and his paternal aunt passed away today. It has been a week, but we will get through it. Now to see if Mom can get out of the hospital and return to the Alzeimer's home or if we are in for skilled care.

...it may be a couple of days before I post cards again.

Buzz & Hoot/WOYWW#214

I made this cool card for a friend who likes owls.
I saw the basic card in the Cardmaker Quick and Easy Cards Spring 2013 magazine.

For my card, I selected the Buzz & Bumble papers and traced the owl shape for the card base by hand.

First, I folded a piece of a paper in half and cut it out so that the sides of the owl were equal. Then I put it on piece of folded card stock, cut it out, and layered the Buzz and Bumble paper on top. I made matching wings and punched circles for the eyes and trimmed the nose out in a coordinating paper. I inked these parts with Buttercup inks. A button with double twine bows finished the front and I stamped a thank you on the inside. The twine and button were from the package of accessories included in the CTMH Buzz & Bumble Hostess Packages.

I am using this as my WOYWW belated submittal.

I had it on my workdesk and took a picture of it. Not staged, this is the table where I was putting it together. I just put my scissors down and picked up my phone.

At the time, I did not know that my mother-in-law -- 2 months shy of 90 -- was going to fall and break her arm badly on Tuesday. She has Alzheimers and is in a nursing home in an Alzheimers unit and just fell while she was going to bed. We spent Tuesday night at the emergency room with her till 2 a.m., so I didn't get any new cardmaking done in time for the WOYWW post. Hence my belated post!

MOJO 301

MOJO 301. A great sketch for a Monday!

I haven't used ovals in a while, so this is a nice change! The Perfect Fit Frames 2 set has a perfect scalloped oval, and the pattern matched some of the Chantilly paper so that made my paper choice very easy.

The yellow strip of paper is dry embossed with a leaf embossing folder.

I die cut the frame using my Cricut Artiste cartridge and stamped it with buttercup ink. Then I found an old Fiskars scalloped oval punch set and punched the Chantilly paper layer and the smaller white layer, which I inked around the edges with Cotton Candy, and stamped the sentiment.

The sentiment is from the Chantilly Workshop on the Go. I added the CTMH hollyhock zipper lace, a Chantilly fabric button, and some sheer yellow ribbon, cuz I gotta have a bow :)

Thanks for looking & have a great Monday!

Cheery Mojo300

The other day I posted that sometimes I take a long time to make cards. Well, this one fought me for two and a half hours, even after I gave up and decided to use a Mojo sketch.

I paired the July stamp of the month (shown on another tab), Sweet Life with Chantilly papers...and the resulting card might have been worth the wait :)
It's pretty sweet :)

I dry embossed the Ruby background then layered Chantilly papers on top of whisper card stock. The ruby and cotton candy die cut circles were made on my Cricut using the Artiste cartridge. I actually cut those last Wednesday, as shown on the WOYWW#213 post.

It's been so quiet because I took a card break due to the 4th of July holiday. We watched my husband's great grandson who is 11 months old, spent some time with some friends and saw my sister and her family.

So it was a very good holiday, ending on a fun, crafting evening!

Here's the MOJO300 Sketch for reference:

WOYWW #213

This morning before work I reviewed some of the "fruits" of my labors...LOL.

Today is WOYWW stands for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Hosted by Julia of Stamping Ground.
I had heat-embossed several fruits from the CTMH Sweet Life set last weekend and took them to our property to work on during quiet time. That turned out to be while drinking coffee with DH on Sunday morning :).

I colored them with colored pencils and blending pens and fussy-cut several.
Then I used one for my MojoMonday #300 card. The rest are ready for play...scattered about the table.
I don't have an actual card made, but I have an idea I think I will be submitting to a magazine, so I can't share it YET.
As I looked at the fruits, I was trying different layers, and ended up moving to my Cricut table to cut some layers. I will show my messy Cricut area instead of a card! A workdesk bonus!!!

Crafty Cricut Area
I am fortunate because my DH set up an area in the basement for me to craft my heart out...and I NEVER have to put anything away...well, til I have all the surfaces covered and can't find room to work - LOL!
Today I used my Artiste cartridge, and some CTMH cardstock in cotton candy and ruby, which will pair well with the Chantilly patterned paper.
Thanks for looking at my creative process today....I should have quite a few cards made over this long upcoming holiday weekend! And they won't all be fruity :)
Maybe someday I will be brave enough to show my VERY messy stamping/embossing table!
Have a great week and for the US desktoppers have a safe and happy 4th of July holiday!

MOJO300 is Peachy

MOJO300

Today's Mojo sketch has so many elements - a circle, square, 2 pennants, an embellishment, and a background layer.

I didn't really think outside the box, but I had fun!
I used CTMH Slate cardstock as the card base while the background layer is Avonlea Green, and added a layer of Avonlea patterned paper.
The pennant is in Avonlea Off White and a dry-embossing folder to add texture. The circle is 2-1/4, from another Avonlea pattern in the paper pack.

Sweet Life - July SOTM

This design showcases one of the stamps in the July Stamp of the Month, Sweet Life! I heat-embossed it with Detailed Black embossing powder and used watercolor pencils to add color. I also dabbed the branch with Antique Linen Distress Ink, then layered it on Avonlea Green.
The sentiment is in the For a Friend set, in Outdoor Denim Ink, layered on Avonlea Teal. A brown button tied with baker's twine adds a nice touch!

Thank you for looking today and congrats to Mojo Mondays for hitting a milestone! Thanks for the fun!
